I have fatigue. Specifically internet/gamer fatigue. More specifically probably white fatigue, but it seems wrong, so lets focus on gamer fatigue.
Gamers are never happy.
That is a generalization for sure.
The gamers who complain the loudest online, are never happy.
2026 has been a great year for gaming.
I finished the Trails series. Wonderful series. It’s not without it’s faults, but, I’m happy with where it ended, and I’m excited to see where it goes.
Afterwards I played Tokyo Xanadu eX+. Not great, it was ok. I still liked it. I’m excited for the Kyoto sequel.
I played Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. I saw so much hate about the game online. Most of it was related to the art style, and the streamlining of the story. I thought the game was great, and didn’t overstay it’s welcome. It even came with some tearful moments. I loved it.
I played Yakuza Kiwami 3 (Remake). I didn’t manage to finish the original. But I played through the remaster, and love it.
Today, Resident Evil Requiem came out. I’m loving it so far.
Pokemon Fire Red released on the Switch eShop. I’ve played it before. I own it on GBA. I’ve emulated it. I gladly bought it again. Because THATS THE POINT. You can’t ethically emulate and claim it’s because the games aren’t available anymore, if the GAMES ARE AVAILABLE. I bought it. I’ll gladly play it after Resident Evil 9.
Inbetween those I started Yakuza Kiwami 0.
I feel like 2026 is off to a great start in regards to gaming.
AND then I open social media. EVERYBODY is complaining. NOBODY is happy. ABOUT anything.
It’s hard to be excited about any fandom in 2026.
People are so angry.
Let’s take for instance a recent example. Final Fantasy VII Remake came out on Switch 2. I’ve played the game on PS5 and PC already. BUT, (if you’ve read my previous blogs), I had to buy it again. I play through it. It was great. Then during this same time I found out that the Steam version of the original game was getting an update, to better match the console versions of the game.
After I finished VII on the Switch 2, I started the original VII on Switch.
It felt so nostalgic. I played the original when I was a kid, but never rented it from Blockbuster long enough to finish.
Anyways, it had some very nice Quality of Life additions added. 3X speed. Unlimited health. Great choices.
But, it also featured really blurry backgrounds. I own the game on PC. I wondered if it was different. So I installed it. Yes. Still blurry. But NO, no quality of life features. Lame. I kid you not, a day later, Square dropped their new version of the game.
I installed it. Crispier backgrounds. QOL features. Perfect.
I was bored at work, browsing Reddit.
Fans are angry.
Apparently this is a cash grab? As a free update. Apparently speedrunners were using a glitch to speed run the game. It’s been patched now. Fuck Square apparently. This is obviously the worst thing to happen to the franchise.
I came across some videos on my TikTok FYP about the remake. I guess that was a cash grab too. I guess it should have been cheaper on Switch 2. The second part “Rebirth” was announced for Switch. That was a sin as well.
I guess social media is all about HATING everything, ALL of the TIME, just because.
It’s exhausting.
One of my favorite games is God of War and the Ragnarok sequel. I’ve bought it on PS5 AND PC.
They announced the Amazon Prime show. They cast Ryan Hurst. Everyone was angry. I love Ryan Hurst.
They showed a screenshot of Ryan as Kratos today. The internet is in an uproar. They hate it. Why? No good reason.
They’re ready to cast the series aside, over a screenshot.
People are FUCKING exhausting.
Stop complaining so much.
Be happy for those who are happy.

It makes me wish life would suck the life out of you.
You just bring people down.
I have no solution. I’m just saddened by the world.
As someone who grew up on the internet, it’s hard to not be able to go online and be excited about something. It’s kind of a downer to see so much people hating, just to hate, and bring down your joy.
I’m already an introvert in real life, it kind of sucks being forced to do that online as well.
